Inspired by Faith

While our products are for children of all religions and backgrounds, we are especially inspired by our Catholic faith and traditions when writing our song cards.

Our children especially love hymns & chants that are centuries old. There is something so beautiful & transcendental about a child singing songs of praise. So we thought, what better way to learn music than by incorporating some of these beautiful hymns and melodies into our curricula?!

Hi, I’m Kelly

A WIFE, A MOM, AND A MUSIC TEACHER

Teaching for 12+ years in private schools, public schools, and even international schools! Through my Master’s Degree and researching child-led music learning, I dove into Montessori philosophies and applied them to music making.

My students and my own children inspire my work and research everyday. Over time, I embraced a color-based music notation system that allowed children to work and play with independence.

Through observing them and wanting a “better way” to teach my own children music, the Playful Pitch Music Method was born!

Our Method

The Children

Clevy, Noelle, Kristoff, and Zara

These little guys are the reason the Playful Pitch Method and our business exist!

It started as an idea for a Montessori-inspired instrument when our oldest was just a baby - and he’s six years old now!

Christian

husband, dad, and producer of our Playful Pitch brand.

After earning his Graduate degree in Creative Film Producing, he went on to produce a feature film in his Caribbean hometown! During the thick of filming (before our kids were in the picture), we knew that we did not want to live the Hollywood, film life when it was time to grow our family.

So, Christian put his experience and skills into creating and growing our music education business —

From flute and piano lessons, to a full fledged ukulele studio, and educating other music teachers.

The Details

Cheap, plastic, loud... vs

Natural, Beautiful, Quality

Cheap, plastic, loud -- VS -- Natural, Beautiful, Quality

When I was shopping for an instrument for baby Clevy, I could only find instruments on two ends of the spectrum:

  1. Cheap, plastic, obnoxious toys with artificial or terrible sounds – you know, the light-up, battery-operated, clanky stuff OR...
  2. I found real, beautiful instruments that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars – for much older children.

I couldn’t find what should be in every child’s home!

An affordable, REAL instrument, made with natural, quality materials that produced beautiful sounds.

I wanted an instrument that could be simplified for young learners and played by children of any age.

So, I designed it, and the Playful Pitch Bars were created.

And now, the children aren’t just the inspiration —

They are also our product testers, quality-inspectors, models, and my biggest critics when I’m writing songs and developing notation!

Playful Pitch was made for and with children every step of the way!
